‘Hear Your Master’s Song’
Written By Ruairidh Anderson

Held on a knee a newborn child howls at the moon under mother’s smile,
Pulled to light from darkest sleep, watch her grow like a rose so soft, so sweet.

Sing me a tune or feed me a poem, bring a feminine touch to a family home,
Look to the serpent, hear from the Lord don’t be tied up with numbers, wrestling words.

Now hear your master sing,
Play grace divinely framed,
Beautiful and tamed,
Blessed in name.

Listen ladies told to wake, Britannia moves on mountainous waves,
Her women fair, men sweat with toil and you’ll serve in your place on England’s soil.

Heavenly music’s beauty’s birth on stable ground on solid earth,
Hold your infants, raise your babes, spare not a thought for enlightened ways.

Now hear your master sing,
Play grace divinely framed,
Beautiful and tamed,
Blessed in name.
